Texas. Apr 15, 2020. #1. I'm sure most of you are aware of the pattern failures of 3.6L Pentastar engines used in Dodge/RAM/Jeep vehicles where they leak. It can leak oil or coolant or both. Most of the failures are attributed to oil change personnel overtightening the oil cap which stresses the plastic. But it will also fail on it's own in

There are 2 versions of the 3.6, the “regular” one used in everything across the entire line until 2016, and the “PUG” which was used in the 2016+ Durango/Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, and Pacifica/Voyager. Challenger/Charger/300 and Grand Caravan carried on using the older Pentastar.

The Challenger's 13 horsepower increase is due to "a more aggressively designed intake air system" which increased airflow from 214 to 220 g/s. That's a lot of HP from a stock CAI. 2015 Supercharged SXT Plus.
This time, they claim it's fixed and they do not hear it any longer. As a self-sanity test, I went and test drove a NEW 3.6 Challenger and I do not hear the same sound (Duh, I would have never took delivery of this one if it was making this noise) I am 100% convinced there is still a problem and not sure what to do next.
Common Overheating Causes. Low Engine Coolant – If there is not enough coolant to properly cool the engine, it’ll overheat and blow the head gasket. Low engine coolant can be both the cause and a symptom of a blown head gasket. Bad Thermostat – The thermostat’s job is to regulate the flow of coolant in and out of your Challenger’s engine.
note: Oil and /or Filter were listed in P06DD causes. Also I would have them check the pump solenoid connector to the PCM just in case its loose or corroded, its on passenger side of the block above the pan towards the front. If you do an oil change stick with OEM not high mileage 30w. 1 Reply. C.
In this video I go over a common problem with the 3.6L engine found in the dodge charger, challenger, ram 1500, jeep, promaster and Chrysler vehicles. for co
The push button key module is called the WIN (Wireless Ignition Node) and when the push button is pressed to "start" the engine, a CAN BUS message is sent to the PEM (Personal Entry Module) to verify the KEELOQ rolling code ( Challenger Tip:117) for FOBIK verification. For whatever reason, if the FOBIK is a code step ahead or behind the PEM and
Get the codes and we can take it from there. My 2014 3.6 is very smooth. Only issue was a side to side stumble at idle once warmed up. The idle (revs) itself was rock steady, just the engine was moving in the engine bay. A new set of motor mounts (under warranty) fixed it 99%. Very happy now with the car.
The OP of this thread is talking about a very specific tick: 1. 3.6L engine. 2. Only happens when cold outside and/or engine is cold (we're still not 100% sure which it is) 3. Only happens when under light->moderate throttle (does NOT happen at idle) Some more info I found yesterday..
