Hello guys! So I am considering buying a used MK7 around 80k kms and 6-7 yo models. I am mainly interested in the frequency and seriousness of problems these used golfs can have. Honestly the opinions I have read so far are kind of divided. Some have faced many problems whilst a lot of people have only experienced small issues with the car so far. 2015-2017 Mk7 Volkswagen Golf GTI DSG: 2013-2017 B8.5 Audi S4 S Tronic : 2018-2020 Mk7.5 Volkswagen Golf GTI DSG: 2018-2020 B9 Audi S4 : 2015-2017 Mk7 Volkswagen Golf R DSG: 2013-2017 B8.5 Audi S5 S Tronic: 2018-2020 Mk7 Volkswagen Golf R DSG: 2018-2020 B9 Audi S5: 2007-2010 Volkswagen Eos 3.2 VR6 DSG: 2010-2015 B8 Audi RS5: 2007-2010 Local pricing of the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 1.4 TSI has been announced. To begin with my former Golf mk 6 GTI 2.0 TSI had similar sound direct after startup with cold engine. The same sound was there last week when I traded it in to the dealer after 4 years use. I was woundering about the noise in the beginning. Our Golf mk 7 1.4 TSI 122 (manufactured in September 13) has the same noise (mostly cold engine).

The Volkswagen Golf Mk7 TSI is a hot hatch with good amount of torque, fun as a daily run-about and a rather good fuel efficient car but then again, not all cars are perfect. For example, you won’t be able to place your full 12-clubs golf set in the boot without folding down the 60:40 split rear seats or without removing your favorite driver. Over the past fuel oil changes (every 8000km, car has 37000) I have done on the car I have noticed the coolant level getting slightly lower then when we bought it. But today coolant level was so low it triggered a warning light. Gear oil is a GL4+ 75w, hydraulic oil is a semi or full synthetic hydraulic fluid. We use a Liqui-Moly product in our work shop And we recommend replacing the gear oil every 50-60kms, just like a standard manual gearbox, as the “sealed for life” idea is a self fulfilling prophecy…
The mk7 has the water pump seperate. If the regular TSI is like the GTI, then the water pump is located at the gearbox end of the engine on the front of the engine, not at the timing end. It's driven by it's own belt, not by the timing belt or main serpentine belt.
Looking at buying a Mk7 VW Golf (1.4 TSI) or a Civic (2014-2015). This may mean it’s easier to find a Civic with an annual oil change history if that’s

Thanks, in the mean time I found out as well that there is only one sensor for temps, the one in the oil pan which I replaced (3F907660E). The VCDS belonged to a mechanic and was recent (19.6.2.0), but I have also been told that sometimes it reports false/inaccurate errors which have to be checked by other means/testers.

Tried using a vacuum pump oil extractor (MacNaught Lubemate) on my daughter's 90TSI 1.4, but could only pull out just over 3 litres before it was sucking in air. Tried pushing thinnest probe/hose (6mm) deeper and also jacking up rear and sides to get last litre or so - but with only a touch more coming out. MsON9c.
